Other writing:  In addition to writing a hiking column and two books (one co-authored), I have written and published poetry since the mid-1970s, some under my previous name, Karen Waring. I will occasionally post a poem or an essay -- it's not all about being outdoors.

On days I'm not in the mountains I visit local parks, rain or shine. The camera goes with me everywhere I go.

Who i am

I find that as time passes I see the world through different eyes -  hence, "Karens Eyes".

I often hike where photography is the focus, not necessarily
getting to a summit or a named destination.
